GREEK LIFE INSURANCE CLAIM BOARD

Dear Sir or Madam:

Thank you for your interest in submitting a claim to the Greek Life Insurance Claim Board. This letter describes how to submit a claim, so you should read it carefully and save it for future reference.

Introduction

New York Life Insurance Company began selling life insurance policies in the Ottoman Empire in 1882. In connection with turmoil caused by the outbreak of World War I, however, New York Life stopped selling policies in Europe and in the Ottoman Empire after 1914.

Various reference works and other sources indicate that many persons of Greek ancestry living in the Ottoman Empire at the outbreak of World War I were displaced or perished between 1915 and 1923.

New York Life searched its records to locate all policies issued in the Ottoman Empire before 1915 insuring those of Greek ancestry. New York Life paid benefits on many of those policies. However, New York Life received no claims and thus paid no benefits or cash value on some of those policies, referred to as the "Greek Policies".

In order to encourage claims upon the Greek Policies, New York Life established the Greek Life Insurance Policy Program. Descendants of persons insured under the Greek Policies may submit claims for benefits by following the steps summarized here and described in greater detail below.

If you can prove that you are a descendant of a person insured under the Greek Policies, you may be entitled to benefits under this Program.

The Greek Life Insurance Claim Board

The Greek Life Insurance Claim Board consists of three Greek-Americans who are not New York Life employees or affiliated with New York Life. The Claim Board will review all information submitted in support of a claim and will decide whether each claim meets the claim criteria.

The Claim Board will review all claims submitted to it before the claim submission deadline of March 31, 2009. The decision of the Claim Board to pay a claim will be final.

How the Board Will Evaluate Claims

In order to assist the Claim Board in evaluating your claim, you must complete a claim form as completely as possible. You must also submit copies of any documents that support your claim to the Claim Board.

In order to be considered, the claim form and copies of all supporting documents must be mailed or e-mailed to the Claim Board by March 31, 2009. Claims mailed or e-mailed after March 31, 2009 will NOT be considered and will be ineligible for benefits. You can get a claim form by clicking here.

Your claim must be based on a policy contained on the list of "Greek Policies." You can review the list by clicking here.

The Payment of Claims

The Claim Board will review all claims after the March 31, 2009 deadline.

The Claim Board will not distribute any policy proceeds until after all claims have been considered and decided upon.

The amount to be paid on each approved claim will depend on the amount of insurance provided by the Greek Policy. The Greek Policies are denominated in either French Francs or British Pounds. The amount of insurance will be converted to American dollars at the rate of 1 French Franc = $2.17 U.S. or of 1 British Pound = $24.96 U.S., as applicable.

The Claim Board will inform you when your claim has been decided. It is important that you notify the Claim Board if you move and that you provide your new mail or e-mail address.

Thank you.

Very truly yours,

GREEK LIFE INSURANCE CLAIM BOARD
